Hi all
I have a 1971 mustang coupe with a factory
3 speed trans . ( RAN BX 1 ) and the reverse
Switch is broken ! I was able to get the part # D2AR 9E740 AA I can t seem to find it anywhere ! I do know it’s out of a 1972 maverick , looked there two ! It is broke so I can t figure what it looks like . Also it has a single post switch on the forward part of the box ? Any help would be great and thanks
AJ

RAN-BX1 is a 72 Maverick 170-6cyl "3.03" transmission, used from 12/1/71. The mid year change was for the seat belt warning switch, which is the single post switch in the main case you're referring to.

D2AR-9E740-AA is a spark control switch - believe it would be Ford service part # is D2AZ-9E740-B

The reverse light switch is D0ZZ-15520-B and mounts on the shifter body.

That's either a spark control switch or the seat belt warning switch. A 71 won't have the seat belt warning system as it didn't arrive until mid-year 1972. Those switches can be difficult to find and expensive for what they are. I would clean the interior of it with brake clean, blow it out dry with compressed air, and fill it with an oil-resistant RTV. That'll help stop it from leaking.

Thank you, I was toying with sealing what I have . Thank you for your help
