HEY GUYS DOES ANYONE WORK ON NEWER CARS FOR A LIVING? MY 05 MUSTANG GT IS MY DAILY DRIVER AND A MONTH AGO IT STARTED TICKING. DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THE VALVETRAIN IN THESE 3 VALVE ENGINES ARE NOT THE MOST RELIABLE SET UP. THE LASH ADJUSTERS CAN STICK AND MAKE THE ROLLER CAM FOLLOWER CLICK LIKE A LOOSE ROCKER ARM IN AN OLDER PUSH ROD SET UP. THE CAM PHASERS ALSO CAN MAKE NOISE. I PINPOINTED THE NOISE TO THE RIGHT HEAD AND IN THE BACK. SO I REMOVED MY VALVE COVER AND FOUND THAT THE LASH ADJUSTER FOR THE INTAKE VALVE ON THE REAR CYLINDER WAS STUCK AND THE ROLLER FOLLOWER WAS LOOSE. THE ROLLER WAS FROZEN UP ON IT. SO MY QUESTION IS THERE IS A SPECIAL TOOL TO WEDGE IN THE TIMING CHAIN TOHOLD THE TIMING IN PLACE SO YOU CAN REMOVE THE CAM. THE TOOL IS 120 DOLLARS. I AM THINKING OF MAKING ONE OUT OF THREADED ROD AND A WEDGE FROM MY SLIM JIM KIT AND CUT IT TO SIZE. I WANT TO KNOW IF I CAN LIFT THE CAM UP A INCH BY LOOSENING THE CAM BEARING CAPS BUT NOT ALL THE WAY JUST ENOUGH TO REPLACE THE CAM FOLLOWER AND LASH ADUSTER. I WANT TO REPLACE THE ONLY ONE THAT WENT BAD. HAS ANY ONE DONE IT BEFORE AND CAN YOU TELL ME IF I AM HEADING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION.
