I emailed the seller for curiosity sake and told them they seem to have a 73 Mustang with a 71 vin. That their front fenders, grille, bumper (front and rear) rims just to name a few are 73 Mustang. And if they could explain. No response yet.:whistling:

VIN shows it to be a 71... It's been gone over and a few later enhancements have been made..

Door sticker, under front fender.

Scary to buy this one without pulling fender. Someone needs to check that 71 VIN and then check the 73 VIN under the fender! Sad

Could be one of those rare factory "on the assembly line" oddities...

The only things '1971' on that car are the Mach 1 decals and the dash pad VIN.

Let's say the shock tower VINs match the dash pad VIN: If the owner somehow just transferred a bunch of 1973 parts onto that 1971, then there's about a zillion reasons why you don't want this car, because it must've been so damaged they chose to repair it with 1973 parts.

More likely, the 1973 car had some major issues under the dash (like a fire) causing the pad to be replaced... in which case, I would still avoid it because of the hassle trying to get it titled and registered.

It doesn't look horrible for the money... but yeah, I'd be pulling the fenders and checking the door sticker against the dash pad - and have WAY more questions than the seller could possibly feel comfortable answering before I walked away.

A few thing I noticed that make me think it is a 73 with a 71 dash vin. The rivets holding the vin look new and the vin plate itself looks cleaned up. Also look at the rear bumper fitment, weren't the 71-72 tighter to the car but this one is away from the car like the 73's

As bad as this seems I've seen worse, especially in the early year cars 1965-1968. They're all GTs or Shelby's or 64 1/2's. You have to remember to research the crap out of any Mustang before buying. Buyer Beware appearance's can be deceiving and documentation is your best friend but remember if it sounds to good to be true it probably is.

Looks to be a 73 in every respect but for the vin number and under the hood is certainly a wiring mess,
Nonsense...I don't see any wire nuts...:D
