. Cleaned, bead blasted and painted shifter housing and radio bezel.
Can I ask you how you avoided painting the chrome portions?
On the radio bezel I painted it black first, let it dry then took a towel with lacquer thinner and carefully wiped the black paint off the chrome portions.

The thinner on the rag works great especially where the lettering is over the knobs. I also have a little trick if you need narrow masking tape. I cut mine using a Fiskars rotary cutter. It is basically a round razor blade with a handle. I also have one of their cutting boards. You put your masking tape on the board and use a straight edge and you can cut any width masking tape you need. That is how I mask off the instrument panels for the chrome and other narrow or odd shapes. I do some work on player pianos and use to cut the material for the bellows. It is handy and does not cost much here is link to Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=fiskar+rotary+cutter&tag=mh0b-20&index=aps&hvadid=3482334596&hvqmt=e&hvbmt=be&hvdev=c&ref=pd_sl_6ndkmp2uv5_e

I could not lay my hands on my cutter but got a pic of the cutting board with a strip of tape on it so you can see. It has grid on the board also. You can use shelf paper and cut masks for like your Magnum 500 wheels after you have a template that works you just put on the board and roll around it. If you ever get into doing upholstery it is handy there also.

Another item you might keep and eye out for is one of the old drafting tables. Mine is 3' X 5' and they have a nice surface to work on. It tilts and is also power up an down so you can sit or stand to work and a great addition to your shop. I work on small items there, speedo, instrument panel and such, and I got mine at a goodwill for $10.00 and it had the drafting machine still on it.

Got the underside of the hood seam sealed, scuffed and ready for paint. Maybe get it sprayed sometime this week. IMG_20160327_212059_052.jpg

I got the underside of the hood based and cleared today. Next I'll be block sanding the body to prep for paint. Don't know when I'll get it painted, works getting busy and daughters sports. Ryan.IMG_20160330_121303_824.jpg

Q, that is quite the setup on the booth and fans. I take it that you get fresh filtered air from the top and exhaust it out to the floor? What kind of fans are you using? What is the cfm? I may need to look at doing something similar to your setup when I paint the body. I've noticed on mine that when spraying the paint it does a decent job of exhausting the overspray but on the clear it's not as good.

Fresh warm air from the top and exhaust is actually out the plenum silver box (built from 1x2 frame and covered with foam sheathing panels hot glued to the frame) then 24" black tube hooked up to a panel that screws onto my entry exterior door inside door frame. The fans were used commercial grade window fans I found at a yard sale. I don't know the cfms but the beauty of it is I made it totally modular 6- 2x4 panels that screw together--the plenum is on wheels with the fans- exhaust tube and door panel(also sheathing with a 24" hole for the tube)

Sandblasted the frt bumper, mirrors and side marker frames today. Then sprayed epoxy primer on top side of hood, bumper, mirrors and frames, will try to spray 2k primer tomorrow and then more blocking. Good to see your back at it Ryan.
Thanks Mike. Its been really hard to find the time to get anything done this time of the year. The weather is nice now but now is the busy season at work, working too many 12 hr days. My goal is to have it painted in the next couple months. Ryan

I finally found some time to spray the gloss black single stage urethane today. My plan is to sand the black, tape and mask for the stripes then shoot the Grabber blue base, unmask the black stripes then shoot the urethane clear over everything. I'll probably have to wait til I get a long weekend again. Ryan.
