My Car
1973 Mustang Grande 351C 2V, built on the very last production day (July 6, 1973) for Grande's.
This weekend I saw a shiny black Corvette C3 convertible (dunno the year but it had a chrome bumper so pre '73 I believe) shooting off the lights and I haven't been able to get that car off my mind! I've seen C3's before and I love them, but now I want one. Problem is I already have my Mustang which I don't want to get rid of. So this has to become my next car. I'm now thinking of postponing a big resto of my Mustang until I got a 73 Corvette I can work on. Those cars ain't getting any cheaper.

That leads me to the following question: What's the situation like in the USA when it comes to 73 Corvette's? How much do they go for and are there still plenty available? Overhere there are not many for sale under $10K

Of course if anybody here owns/owned one I'd love to hear/see about it or any other info/stories on that car :)

If it had chrome bumpers it was a 72 or older. Vette price vary wildly depending on condition and options. A driver quality base automatic car you might buy for 10-12K. A big block four speed, or LT-1 car would likely be triple that amount. Owner modifications usually decrease the value. I thought I wanted a Corvette until the first time I drove a 1969 model in 1971. Everything rattled and the ride quality was like a hay wagon. The owner loved the car, and in fact, still has it. Chuck

 
I have a 64 Corvette. Actually it's still my mom's.  She and my dad ordered it in 1964.  They are the original owners.  It's the reason I got into cars.  My brother and sister are now the caretakers of the 1 owner, original paint, riverside red, 327, 4 speed convertible.

Yes, as c9 said, it rides like a haywagon everything raddles and pretty much drives like a truck but driving it is so much fun.

My Mach 1 is suffering from an overheating issue so I took the Corvette to a car show last  weekend.  I got more questions and complements than I ever did with my mustang. 

Obviously I prefer the c2 but the c3 is a close second. I saw a local 68 convertible for sale at $19k. Not original engine but looks nice. Not a bad price in my opinion.

 
Thanks for the replies guys. My Mustang rattles as well so I'm used to that ;-)

Today I received an original sales brochure. Unless it's not very complete it looks like the vette had a lot less possible options than our Mustangs do.

Your mustang should not rattle like a vette did. Mine certainly doesn't.

 
In my opinion (I am not an engineer). they ride terrible due to suspension design, and rather short wheel base as well as being constructed with a fiberglass body where overtime cracks and stress on the fiberglass where it is attached to the actual structure of the car fail.
