I got my quarter windows working smoothly after I lubricated the mechanisms AND the tracks.
One of the wires going into the can was exposed so I took it out to fix it. After I got the wire fixed I applied 12v to test it and there were horrible noises coming from inside, so I took it apart and cleaned it out.

That said, who ever tried to fix it last must have had the mantra "grease is the way". It was outside the motor, all over the tracks, on the window base, but what was inside was old and crusty.

welcome from the north side of the Border. Love the sister car with 351 4V Q, 4 speed. Wish I knew how many people had mine before I got her in 1982. Finished 95 % of the restoration, and now I need to remember how to do a burnout at age 63..bwaa..

Don't worry CJ, just like riding a bike...one never forgets how to do it;)

Got the motor back in and everything hooked up with new switches, they all seem to be working well except the drivers door has a bit of a slow down around the middle of it's travel when rolling up. I also discovered that both door windows feel that they are only held in with the center rivets, they rock front to back very easily. I ordered a weatherstrip kit so I'll be looking to fix those issues as I install the new weatherstripping.

Proud new owner of a 1973 Q Code Convertible with a 4 spd manual. Purchased from the 2nd owner out of San Antonio TX, the speedo shows 81K miles and it was reportedly always garage kept. Lots of work done to bring it up to date, new front seats, recovered rear seat, wheels and tires, brakes, dual exhaust, clutch, and even an engine rebuild in '98 at 78K miles with all the paperwork. The PO claimed he had driven it about once a month since the rebuild. No rust, some minor body damage to the rear end, but rock solid all around. Needs a new top and paint, I plan to take it back to the original Medium Copper (5M). I've been looking at the 71-73 'verts for a while now but nothing serious until this showed up. It ticked so many boxes I drove 2000 miles in 2.5 days to check it out and bring it home.

This makes my fourth Mustang and my second 73, the first was a Grande Coupe with 351C 2V. Also owned a 66 Coupe 289 2V 3 spd and a 2016 GT 5.0

About me: 62 year old software developer from Ball Ground, Georgia, a small town about 45 minutes NW of Atlanta. Wife, 2 kids, grandkid on the way, 1 dog. Into cars, fishing, and photography. Been a Mustang guy since I was 16, if I ever win the lottery I'll get at least one of every year. Except the Mustang 2s. Nope, won't touch that one.

Glad to be here, I'm sure I'll have lots of questions as I go along.

Roger
Congrats Roger on the car, lots of potential! Like the idea of going back to the Medium Copper, good luck with your endeavors.
