My ignition tumbler has only 3 positions, all FORWARD (one forward and nothing happens, a second forward and all electronics come on -- while draining the battery-- and then the actual start position. Question is: is there a REVERSE position to, say, listen to the radio without draining the battery? Mine doesn't have that reverse position.

Ummm...sorry, but there is no key position whatsoever in any vehicle that allows you to play the radio without draining the battery.

As for your ignition switch, it doesn't sound correct to me.

mine has ACCESSORY, OFF, RUN, START. which is standard for almost all cars unless you have a "PUSH TO START" car.

so from the off position I have one back position, and 2 forward positions .

Yep, so mine does not have the ACC position is what I meant. I know it will drain the battery to be used, but i was referring to the forward position that activates the gauges, buzzers, etc. So I wonder why mine does not go back one...it feels stuck, when trying to go back, like something is blocking it.

It might be the switch position (located on the steering column) adjustment is wrong. It seems like you have an extra position in there, it should go from off to run, without a blank position in between.

Yes, it is adjustable. However, I double-checked and there is an OFF position before the RUN position. The sequence is ACC, LOCK, OFF, RUN, START.

If the actuator/rod that runs from the lock cylinder to the switch isn't hanging up on something, the lock cylinder may be bad or has a tumbler that is hanging up when you try to turn it to ACC.
