My master cylinder has been leaking since I bought the car. It's at the point now where I have to replace it. It's been leaking down the front of (and into I'm sure) the booster. I know they make replacement 9" boosters, but I'd prefer to rebuild my 11" if there is a kit to do so. Does such a thing exist? Thanks!

I think David (Carolina.....) may be able to help there. He's posted before on rebuilding his booster. You might check Cardone for a rebuilt or even R&R. I got mine from Cardone, but although it seems to be good, they didn't even paint the thing, just bare metal.

Many of the so-called replacement boosters sold do NOT fit our cars. The 8" Bendix for sure will not fit with the shock tower supports. Ask me how I know!

When I did my booster add-on ( I did not have PB before), I first tried the Bendix, but quickly found why it would not work. Also at that time, my steering column was out because of the need to rework and drill the 3/8" bolt holes. It's a lot easier with the column out, seat as well. At least you'll need to drop the column as your just doing a replacement.

Cardone will allow you to send yours back. They will rebuild and return to you, but that's the only option. No idea how long that takes. That's why I'd rather do it myself.

This is who did mine www.boosterdeweyexchange.com  They are out of Oregon. Send them yours and they rebuild it. Ryan

I did find all the pieces but the plastic gasket between booster and firewall. I built a fixture to hold the can to release the crimps Then going back you have to clamp tight on the rubber and crimp them again.
You can sent to what was Booster Dewey in Oregon to get rebuilt but they only sand blast the case and do not fix all the rust pits. You can rebuild the master cylinder also I get the kits from NPD. Here is picture of all the seals, diaphragm and gaskets I have. Can get you a price for a set if you want to try. Took couple years to track everything down.

Thanks! I'll give them a call on Monday. If their lead time is only 3-4 weeks as their website states, I may go that route. I have some business traveling to do over the next month so it may work out nicely to have them working on it while I'm away.

David, It's awesome that you were able to find all of those items. The amount of time it took you do do so is certainly a bummer but not surprising. I may give BoosterDewey(Steve) a shot, but if for some reason that doesn't pan out, I'll let you know. I greatly appreciate your offer to put pricing together for me if needed. Thank you.

I sent my brake booster to Harmon Classic Brakes in Canton, GA for rebuild.  They turned it around in about 2 weeks.  I'm not to the point of installing it yet, but just pulling it out of the box, it looks brand new.  Just throwing that out as another option.

Great Info. Thanks!!

So there is no kit available that anyone knows of for the master cylinder? I was hoping to rebuild mine, but I might have to get a cheapo from NAPA to get me by if there are no rebuild kits out there.

The NAPA kit for my 72 shows to be out of stock, but I would think other suppliers should have one somewhere.
