Wanted some advice before I attempt. 1971 Mustang.

My turn signal switch stopped working and no parts stores in town has one...so I ordered a new one online.

In the meantime I would like my brakes lights to work. Can I bypass the steering column by splicing the wire from the stop light switch directly to the two brake light wires under the dash?

On my model...stoplight switch is light green and brake light wires are orange/blue and orange/green.

I believe this should work...what do you think?

Yes, you would need to tie the orange/blue and green/orange lines to the solid green brake switch line. You'll need to remove those pins from the turn signal switch connector and re-hook up the connector for horns.

Don't forget that if you do this by bypassing the turn signal switch, your turn signal lights won't work.

Good deal...and the new turn signal switch is on its way. Just wanted to make sure my logic was sound on the brake lights.

Thanks, Roddy
