Hello,
I'm raising my 73 convertible back from the near graveyard. She sat for many a year and now is getting a new lease on life. The convertible top is in decent shape and I've lubricated the pivot points and latches and it's going up and down pretty well.
The other day I was giving it a good wash when the lower seal along the bottom of the rear glass just separated from the glass. The lower edge of the glass no longer has anything attached to it. The seal portion is black and attached to the cloth that goes down into the well. I called a local upholstery shop and they told me that the entire glass assembly with the cloth would have to be replaced.
They seemed pretty honest but replacing that right now just isn't in the cards. They suggested maybe I could remove the assembly and put some silicone on the seal and press the glass down and let it seal/dry and then try reassembling it.
Anyone else run into this or have any suggestions?
Thanks!
