so has anyone had to replace the #4 tacking strip material  i have talked with sdstang  a little about it  but before i get going on it has anyone else replaced it and how did you do it more ideas and options are better thanks

Convertible top shops do it all the time. Be advised that many of the 'plastic' replacement strips have issues with the staples not holding properly. Last time I had a new top installed, the upholstery shop used strips of heavy duty poster board (and waterproof contact cement) to layer into the bow until it was flush. The installer mentioned the staples would hold as well or better than the original factory material.

I bought a repro strip from NPD which they told me would be a perfect fit, it's way too skinny and not tall enough to be flush with the top of the bow. Never telling me it was made of plastic either, useless! DUMBA@@ES!
