If an engine has been sitting a long time, it common to pull the plugs and add penetrating oil into the cylinders(or marvel mystery oil)

My question is ..Is it the same just pouring MM oil into the carb(throttle wide open) and letting the oil seep into the cylinders?

The best way is to coat the cylinders before storage. Spraying some light oil in the carburetor before start up won't hurt anything, but will likely coat the spark plugs and will require removal and cleaning of them.

I would be more concerned about dry bearings, and pull the spark plugs and crank it until you get oil pressure. You can also spray some light oil in the cylinders before you crank it.
