I have two remote mirrors. One has a decent knob and mirror housing but the mount to the door is messed up. The other has a dent in the housing and the knob is broken but the mount piece is excellent. Soooo....I want to take them apart and make one good one. I think disassembly would go as follows. Carefully pry the clamp/knob housing at clamp to the three cables (using an appropriately sized screwdriver. Compress the knob spring straight down in a vise with protection on the jaws and use a small punch to finagle the cable ends out from the knob. Do this three times (will need to move adjuster assembly in the vise to get to all of them). Reverse to reassemble. I will bead blast the parts in between. It appears ford painted the housings prior to making the assembly since the entire inside of the mirror housing is body color on my passenger mirror. I thought I saw a thread on this somewhere but could not find it. Any help or ideas appreciated. Drivers mirror appears to have been repainted
