Anyone have any experience with these types of trans. A buddy of mine has one that is acting up in a 95 F350 with 460 and wants to know if i can fix it for him. He told me that Wednesday it started slipping and he said he babied it to get home with it and then it started to make a roaring sound as a wheel bearing was going bad, he changed the spin on filter and drove it today and it did good. I was at job site when he pulled up in it and it was smoking like crazy I crawled under it and it was dumping fluid out of the front of trans. I told him front pump is gone and will need a new one plus get a torque converter as well and since it had been slipping to get a rebuild get for it as well and i will go from there. I have rebuilt FMX, C4, and an AOD Was wondering if anyone has tackled this before and any tips. Guess its time to go buy another trans. book.

My extent on transmissions so far was to change the fluid on my 95 Tbird 4R70W, and I put a 700R4 in my 86 K5, so sorry but no help here. What's your opinion of the AOD? I'd like to do that behind my Cleveland in a '79 pickup.

My 93 Tbird had an AOD and when it was working right i had no complaints, But one thing about them i do not like is the fact that changing the filter on them can sometimes screw them up since the filter bolts are also used to hold the valve body. If one screw strips it can ruin the trans. But they are nice for highway cruising
