Electrical Wires Attached to Speedo Cable

Hey Randy, I'm replacing my original speedo cable and found a metal round disk like object about 6" from the end of the instrument gauge end. On top of the disk object there is 2 electrical wire plugged into it. Any ideal what it is?

Sounds like part of a old cruise control system.

It is a speed sensor utilized by the emission system and gets plugged in under the dash to an amplifier.

Thanks. So is there any harm in disconnect it so the new speedo cable can be installed?
