Some may be keeping up with the painting of my car down in Byron,GA by Mustang Central. I hauled the car down on my open car trailer, but the more I think about it I would prefer to haul it back in an enclosed trailer. I have a trailer available to me here in Memphis, but it is 5K pounds empty. I have a friend of a friend who said he could help with his F350, but with the delays I am running out of time for his assistance. If anyone in the Southeast US has a trailer I could borrow for a couple of days I would really appreciate it. I have my dodge which can pull 5K and I have access to an f150 that can pull 7K. The car is stripped out with no front suspension. I have called several shipping companies, but no one will take the car without front suspension. It is a roller with the dollies I have bolted onto a rig that bolts to the frame. I need around a 20 foot trailer for the car. The trip from GA to Memphis is 450 miles plus whatever other distance would be involved to get the trailer. I have searched for either trailers or larger trucks to rent without any luck. I even considered renting a 20 foot uhaul to put the car in but with mileage it would be about $1k. Any availability to a trailer would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Brian

Get some of that white stick-on plastic protecton they use to ship new cars with.

They ship them on open trailers to the dealer. It looks like white cling-wrap and i bet you could find a roll of it from a large packaging supply outlet online. Maybe ask a dealer what they use.

Clear cling-wrap is easy to get, cheep and would probably work fine (the same stuff that shipping pallets get wraped with).

That white stuff doesn't seem to come off of new cars.

Really only the front is prone to rocks picked up by the tow vehicle.

Build a front shield for the trailer out of plywood.

Thought about that option, but I am worried about it coming loose and buffing the paint like a cover would do. Still keep the ideas coming.
Don't even think about using that on fresh paint..The paint needs at LEAST 90 days to fully cure before using that, wax, or even a cover..you will ruin the job if you put ANYTHING on the finish BEFORE 90 days
