Well it seems my insurance story is turning into a saga. My broker called yesterday to tell me that the Hagerty underwriter refused to cover my old cars, at any amount, because my trailer had been stolen, no car inside mind you. She stated we don't underwrite anyone with a theft claim in the last three years. My broker, who happens to be a Shelby Cobra/Mustang head judge for SAAC, talked to the underwriter for Safeco who has agreed to cover the cars for the amount I requested, three hundred dollars cheaper than Hagerty. Several pictures of the cars and my house/garage were forwarded to the underwriter as well as the MSO and purchase agreement for the Cobra. Hopefully everything will be finalized tomorrow morning. This whole drama has made me understand that going to the dentist is not traumatic by comparison. Hopefully none of you will fall victim to thieves. If you do, brace yourself for a long and rough ride.
On a more pleasant note, the sponsors of the OKC Auto Show have requested that I display my 1969 G code Cougar Eliminator for the third time. It appears someone likes unusual old Muscle Cars. Chuck

I had JC Taylor for many years, and had one claim with them and they took good care of me. For the identical amount of coverage, JCT cost a lot less than Hagerty. However JCT wouldn't allow me to drop collision coverage for the 5 months of Michigan wintery weather when my cars are stored away and not driven. I'm really not sure if Hagerty would let you do that either.

Last year I switched to Auto Owners, because they started offering agreed value coverage for vintage / antique vehicles. Despite raising my agreed value amount, (and all other coverage staying the same), my insurance bill decreased even further. Plus, Auto Owners allows me to drop the collision coverage during those winter storage months to save money. I keep everything else, just drop the collision, until I get them out in the Spring.

I need to call Auto Owners!

I have USAA and would not recommend them. I have 5 car including my mustang. I have switched a few of my cars over the last few months and the quote for changing cars have not been what my change has been. I was told $13 a month for upgrading my wife's car from a 2017 to a 2019 and may 2016 to a 2018 was $17 a month. That's $30 dollars a month. When I got my next bill it was over $200 a month, a total of $977 a month. I called them and they said Georgia went up two times and "I guess the representative forgot to quote you for that". Two different representatives in different months, yea right. I complained and they said "change you deductible to $1000 and then it will even out". Yea right, I will be changing insurance companies in the next 2 weeks before this policy ends.
