Here is what I found on the back of the block on the drivers side just below the head. I used a mirror but can't make it out.

If you can scrape away some of that paint, then your partial vin should look something like this on my 1971 block:

Terry, shine your light from the side to accentuate the shadows on the numbers...it may make them easier to read.
