Well...Got a metal detector for xmas...And was showing it off too a freind so we walked out back and started testing it out...and here is some picks of cool stuff i found in my yard....Some old metal heavy deal..Not sure what for...that flower thing i found about 10 inches in the ground and was laying on top of metal..lol....i told my freind..lets detect over in the middle where i played with my toys,, maybe find a old toy car and i chuckled..And what the heck do i pull out? A old toy car!!..about 6 inches down in the ground...still gots paint!!...Im posting a picture...I think its a le mans gull wing mercedes or jaguar? I thought it was a vett first thing...Was cool first day out playing with it just for a few min...What fun!!! picks i took with my phone..so there not the best..lol..Figured i would share the fun and see if anyone can guess what type of car it is..hehe

Didnt even get a part of my yard done...That was from 20 min of detection....Bounty hunter iv sure isnt a bad detector for 100 bucks.

Thats cool. I have an old detector that my father use to use at the beach. I need to dig it out of storage and see if it still works. My house backs to a common area that is overgrown and has some civil war history in the area. There is a huge oak tree back there that dates to 1750's, so it was over a hundred years old during the civil war. I've seen old broken blue glass back there too. Sounds like a neat hobby.

Got ya beat !

I bought 2 new detectors as gifts for the kids a few weeks back after speaking with our member Detector ( THANKS D ) On our second day out found a nice solid sterling ring pretty heavy.. Man what a rush when you hit a ring or jewelry !

Also found some old early 70's hot wheels red lines a few years back with an old white detector I had

Nice...just make me want to look for more!! I wish i had a garret or whites!!..But thought i would atleast try a cheap one to start off with...Atleast this one says its made in usa and all the instructions where in english..Suprized me..No spanish or anything...Very clear and well wrote...Im happy for the price..But i read a bit on them on a few detecting sites..and they all said if you had to go cheap get that one cause it seems to find stuff just as deep as 400 dollar units....So far i hit metal over a foot deep and more...Some was deep anuff i gave up till later..Was trashing my lawn...LOL

Nice finds! Our very own guy on here, Detector, is a expert at this hobby.

Check out http://metaldetectingforum.com for a great forum on the subject.

BTW, a new detector was on my Christmas list.
I think thats the same site i was reading about detectors...lol..got it saved now

Scott, It looks like those hot wheels cars could use the Adam's treatment. :p

Car i got only has a t on the bottom...No real big markings showing who made it..mmmm....It never had glass or a bottom...It looks to be from the 60's...Its alot like a tootsie car toy.

On Detectors advice I bought the garret ace 350 The place I bought it from had a deal going where if you spent 300.00 you could get another detector ad a reduced price so I also bought the pioneer 505 Both great machines

bounty hunter iv..Its cheap in the detector world..Usualy sells for 120 bucks new..But i hear their a decent company to deal with if anything goes wrong..5 year warranty..Detactable coil too..So you can get a small nugget hunter coil for gold and 6 inch for getting into small places...I havent got any of the extra coils yet.

Some of those cars can be quite valuable. I believe the one you found is called a Tootsie car. If you get a chance hunt a few of those little tot lot playgrounds at parks and schools. They have wood chips or sand in with the slides and bars that make loosing stuff really easy. That is where you find most your gold. You'll want to turn your discriminator down to just above iron to find the gold jwelery. Testing some at home will help.

Here is some of the cars I've found.

Nice!! Ya i cant find any marking on that car but a to or t6....Made me think it was some kinda tootsie toy while looking them up...having a hard time finding it...But going to look for cheetah's now..hehe Need to get some better pics of it thou...Im hooked;)...I been sitting out side playing with the discrimination modes and stuff...And digging everything up in site<~~and filling all my holes..hehe..I use to detect with my freind..He had a nice 800 dollar garret with pin point...Mine not that good:( ..lol..but!! i have found a few penny's over 8 inches deep so far ...and that big metal disk with the square hole was almost a foot deep....Im just glad it works better than some of the horror stories i heard about cheap ones..lol....i was thinkin about hitting some schools too....We got a few old playgrounds.....I was thinkin about getting the 6inch coil or the little gold coil...they do pretty good in junk and small places like they say? Mine has a 8 inch coil i think.

Okay Chuck & Detector beat me to the punch. Definitely a Cheetah and it is a Tootsietoy.

They were a very cheap alternative to Matchbox cars. Cool finds!

Hey Scott - I'm into the Aurora HO slotcars. Really never got into the Tycos or others. Mainly T-Jets (Thunderjet) and A/FX for me. Good friend putting up a track in his garage behind his house. Still fun to race and search for more cars! Nice Cheetah. Monster tires!
