FMX Transmission Filter

Okay I need a quick bit of help here. Doing a basic maintenance of my transmission and I'm ready to start putting it all back together. For the fmx filter, is the pickup hose supposed to slip into the collar or just rest up against it with pressure held on my the clips? Thanks guys!

I've had this issue several times with mine.

I found with the brass filter, I've had trouble getting the black ring over the pickup tube.

It should slip over otherwise you'll crush the filter to an extent blocking some flow.

My last service I used the normal felt filter with grommet as a package.

It won't hurt also to help the grommet by shaving it wh a Stanley knife to help it slip on...
