My car has power front disc brakes from the factory. I need to do my wheel bearings so I thought I might dome some upgrades to the brakes as well. I don’t want to spend a small fortune on a willwood system or anything like that.

Has anyone used these rotors?

Is there a moderately priced option to upgrade the calipers?

Recommendation on pads?

These are great kits to use, cyber Monday sale for $489.

Just a thought if your going to go fast you need to stop fast.
Has anybody installed this kit on an original disc brake car? I was going over the install directions and it states that the spindles need to be removed and have three holes drilled and out and tapped for the bracket to mount up. Could one not just drill and tap the holes while on the car?

I don't have any brake pad compound suggestions. Opentracker has some expensive ones, must have unicorn horns and dolphin tears in them.

"Budget" large front brake kit...

Just saying... There have been two folks on the forum that have totaled or nearly totaled their mid to high horsepower rides in the last few years (Remember the convertible with stuck throttle where the whole passenger side was peeled off and the guys wife was hurt pretty bad?). IMHO a lot of people just toss cash at their engine like there is no tomorrow then balk at spending anything on suspension and brakes. Not saying to refinance the house and put some ludicrous 6 pot calipers on, but avoiding death and dismemberment is one of my top priorities.

Something to think about is upgrading the rear brakes as well. new rear shoes with a better friction material couldn't hurt. One trick for a rear improvement had to do with using the rear drums from certain 80's Aerostar vans. The drums were wider, maybe 2.5" wide. This allowed for a wider shoe, but kept the same diameter and bolt pattern. I think it required using the drum and backing plate.

On my RX7 I had Powerslot rotors (slotted, not drilled) and EBC green Stuff pads. Definite improvement. On my 08 GT I just installed some Drilled and slotted rotors and performance pads. Also a noticeable improvment.
