Fuel Sending Unit Question

I am in the process of replacing my fuel sending unit.

Here is a picture of my current fuel sending unit orientation. The new part I received has a 90 degree difference in the fuel tube ( where the red line is drawn).

Did I receive the wrong part or is the sending unit in my car the wrong one? Is there a "right" or "wrong" one? If I use the new sending unit ( fuel tube in red line location) will I have fitting issues with the electrical connection?

On my '72 its the other way around, plug is on the right of the fuel line
