Sorry for the duplicated pics but I wanted to try and show the similar color and threw in the one he is standing in. Ray

Though there will always be variance (film stock or camera sensor, monitor, etc.), the factory Medium Yellow Gold color always appears quite faithful to the Eleanor color.

I'd like to see an original Medium Yellow Gold car parked next to Eleanor for a comparison. Could be that MYG may be the easiest color to use on an Eleanor replica to start with, but only an in-person comparison could really prove it.

If you wanna paint your car the same your best guess is to simply look for a color that looks close enough for you.

Even if you had the exact paint code your car would probably look not look exactly like Eleanor because of how the film shows color.

Even without the celluloid film material you still have huge discrepancies because of different lights or different camera settings. Then you have your monitor or tv settings etc, as Kurt pointed out.

Just look at Kurt's post with the two close ups on the previous page.

Although they show the same car, the color on each pic is totally different from the other one.

As cudak888 said, variances such as lighting, camera angle, printed colors, and monitor screen representations play into the different colors we all see on the same car. There was a discussion back in Dec 2014 on this forum on the Eleanor color. School Bus yellow is pretty close to the color you see on that car. In fact when Kit Sullivan talked to his "Contact" he was told that was pretty much what they used.

Ford told Bud Moore Engineering who was building Fords Boss 302 Trans Am cars that they wanted a color that would "Stand Out" on the track. So instead of Grabber Yellow or orange, School Bus Yellow was used. The color actually looked good on those cars and Eleanor!

Our Truck Sales/Fleet Manager had a binder with hundreds of paint chip colors with the manufacture and their number and the corresponding Ford ID number. There were actually several school bus yellow colors (The DOT maintenance trucks were school bus yellow) and even showed me the funky blue-green Heilig Meyers Furniture Truck color. (Anyone remember them and the same color T-Bird that they sponsored in NASCAR)?
