Salty roads will certainly take its toll & rust out many a northeastern car but you can still find some decent cars here in NY, not nearly as many as in the south or west coast but they still can be found, it just takes longer as there are fewer around by %.
Best candidates are garage kept cars that have either low miles or cars w/ dead engines or un driveable due to accident, transmission failure , etc. that came about early on in their life as it usually equates to low road use and less corrosion by salt
