Can anyone give me an idea on how to get the old upper ball joints that are riveted on off the damn upper control arm?

I ground down the rivet head from under under side thinking the uppers should just pop off. Not happening.

Can't grind from the top without the control arm being in the way.

Should I try to drill them out from underneath?

Center punch the top of the rivets, then drill thru them. I believe a 1/4" bit will do the trick. not all that hard to do.

Once you drill them thru, then just a sharp chisel to the head of the rivet will take it off. Be sure to wear safety glasses and keep body parts (yours) out of the way of shrapnel.

Got her done!

Took the whole day after detailing all up in there.

Thanks guys.

Tomorrow I'll tackle the power steering pump!
