Check out the two loaded out Q-code Convertibles I have for sale on Ebay. Also, check out the derogatory remark from 65_turbo. How can someone be so stupid as to post a statement like that? According to this "expert", Ford never made a Q-code convertible!!!! Kevin.

Ebay item #130625441232 and #130628022238

Wow Kevin, how did you make up that Q code VIN????,, and the fake Marti report too?, You are good,,Could you make me up a few of those? I had to laugh at this one,,, Ford didnt make "Q code" converts,,,,,GEEZ, Everyone is an EXPERT

Nice solid project cars for sure..BUT I will be amazed if you get what your asking for them on EBAY...Both cars could easily run in 20-30 large range if not more ..to restore them where they need to be ..IF YOU CAN'T DO THE WORK YOURSELF.. the market just plain sucks...You really missed the boat if you would have listed this stuff 3-4 years ago..Different story..I mean look at what 25 large can buy you turn key ..http://classiccars.com/listing-197965/1971-ford-mustang-mach-1-for-sale-in-rockville-maryland-20852.htmlOr better yet this http://classiccars.com/listing-286433/1973-ford-mustang-for-sale-in-volo-illinois-60073.html For less than what it would cost to restore those cars I could buy this get in & turn the key ...No searching for parts ...no years of restoration work ..No fuss No muss.. Youve got a hard sell in this market...The fact is the market is flooded right now..Tons of good cars out there & more coming to market everyday..People are hurting due to the economy..That being said I think you would have better luck selling on a site geared to the collector market.. Not the test pilot non paying dreamers on ebay..http://classiccars.com/home.html

Hi, CobraJet! Thanks for your input. I hated to drop to his level, but I thought it was warrented. I wonder why some people have to be that way? Kevin.

Hi, Q-code. Thanks for you input. I hope you're wrong, but I have to admit you make a good point. Unfortunately, I was the guy driving up the market buying the cars 4 years ago. I'm hoping to at least break even on what I have in these projects. I will say though, I have sold 6 cars in the past month, and I'm getting direct input from some very savey guys who do have access to excellent restorers who work at reasonable prices, as well as individuals who do their own work. I guess that's the market I'm targeting. Then too, I think my prices are very reasonable considering the fact that these cars are not your typical cars that are hacked up rebodies with a slick finish over swiss cheeze sheet metal. I've talked on the phone with numerous buyers who appreciate what these cars offer, from the standpoint of options, uniqueness, collectability, condition, etc. One guy is in San Antonio, and he can get top notch work done dirt cheap. Another guy is a retired paint and body guy building a car himself for his grandson. A lot of people actually like doing the work themselves, and get a sense of accomplishment. That's why I got into this hobby in the first place (unfortunately I'm a little OCD and went a little crazy buying up these cars and thinking I could finish them all by myself). And a lot of guys don't have 20 to 30 large to lay down at one time on a car. Still others have a hard time finding exactly what they're looking for and want to build the car to their own specifications. Some want to change the color, the drivetrain, some want a 4 spd, some want air, some want good gas mileage, some want a kick around car that they can drive everyday and not worry about door dings in the parking lot, etc. Only time will tell. Like I sain in the ad, if they don't sell, I'll keep them and restore them one day. I can't give the cars away, because I know too well the feeling of letting a one of one car go and then waiting and waiting for the same thing to come along, only to find that it never happens, or to see the car finished and flipped over and over by guys with big smiles on their faces, and lots of dough in their pockets. Thanks! Kevin.

Kevin, you have been having these cars done for many years

I have to ask why all of your adds say

DRIVELINE IS BELIEVED TO BE ORIGINAL

No offence but either it is or isn't.

Personally when I see an add like that I think it is not a match.

Actually Don, not all of my ads said that. If I have pulled the motor and verified all the numbers, then I said it's numbers matching. But if you look in the pics of my ads, you'll see my shop is cramed with cars, and it'd be physically impossible for me to get the numbers off everything. If I bought a car as a Q-code, and it has a Q-code motor in it, with an intake manifold that is date code correct, or if the driveline was advertised to me as original, then I post the driveline as "believed to be original". Assume what you will. Then again keep in mind that a 72 Q code or 73 Q-code convertible is NOT a 1970 GT500 Shelby convertible. It would be sacrilege to misrepresent a car like that, even though it's done every day. I think you have to look at the big picture. I'm not looking to get big bucks for these cars in their current condition. The last finished car I sold was a one of one 429CJ Red/Red Fastback, and Yes, I did verify all the numbers, and Yes, I did get $50K for it. Oh, and I believe the buyer of that car sold it at Barrett Jackson six months later for $75K, after doing almost nothing to the car. Considering how easy it is to restamp a block, how can anyone ever really be that sure that the driveline is original, unless they are the original owner, and how often do you see that with these cars after they change hands a million times? Kevin.

Too bad that pewter Mach1 @ Flemming's is missing the correct steering wheel and it would look so much better with the deluxe door panels. Flemming's just flips cars (think Vinny from NY) and every car I have seen for sale there has one or more things wrong that would be easy to correct but they just do not care.

Your right !!! I see it all the time simple little things called details that can make all the difference overlooked..On the other hand those simple little things can make a big difference in the asking price vs selling price to the INFORMED knowledgeable buyer.

OK don't take this wrong but I've just got to give my thoughts on this type of eBay ads. I understand you're wanting to reach as many prospects as possible, but here is a thought that you might have missed.

Personally I'll never buy from a ad that I feel is misleading or intentionally meant to force their ad on me. Ever do a search on eBay for all 1973 mustangs and see that Cougar or Galaxy show up because the seller added the tag mustang to intentionally force their car on people who obviously aren't looking for their cars? If I do a search for 1973 mustangs all I want to see is what I'm searching for. 1973 mustangs. Not cougars or fairlanes just 1973 mustangs.

When I see those non-searched items someone was sneaky enough to bypass my searched wants, it makes me leery of the persons legitimacy in the sell. Are they also being sneaky in the actual item as well?

Just a thought. Again, I understand your wanting to reach as many potential buyers as possible, but there are probably a few more potential buyers like myself you are also eliminating as a buyer.
Hi. I get it. But I have been into these 71 to 73 cars longer than just about anyone (I'm 52, and my first car was a 72 Mach I bought in 1976). The keywords I use are not deceptive. As a class, these cars are 71-73 Mustangs, and there aren't many differences from one year to the next. What about the many people out there that see one of our cars, like it, want to buy one, and do an ebay search for a 1971 Mustang? I'm selling a 1972 and 1973 convertible right now. Don't you think they would want to see my cars? Maybe you wouldn't, but maybe they would. My keywords are there to attract only the right buyers. I didn't put '70 or '69 or '68 in my ad. I pay good money to post and sell my cars on ebay. I don't have the luxury of posting the cars ten times to get them sold just so that you won't be aggravated. Let me do what I have to do to target the right audience, and please, mind your own business. GEEEZZZZZ, I thought this site would be different from the ones I've been to before. Everyone's a frigin expert!

I have allowed this thread to continue as I believe it has value. While I am not targeting a specific post on this thread, I want to remind EVERYONE that one of our main goals is to have a source where individuals who own or are interested in OUR Mustangs can voice their approach to the hobby without being ridiculed or otherwise maligned due to that approach.

Recently, I am seeing a bit of negativity creeping into some of the posts which I believe serve no good as it turns people off who may be able to be an asset to the Site. If you REALLY have an issue with something posted and want to be constructive, PM or email the poster with your thoughts or suggestions.

Quite frankly, there are many times when I do not agree with a certain approach but withhold "judgement" (read that posts) unless a specific question is asked relative to my opinion.

In line with the rules of the Site, I caution each of you to utilize that same approach. If you have reservations or are not interested in something that is posted, then just don't post to that thread, unless a specific question is asked. Again, you can PM and/or email the poster instead.

The negativity must stop as this is NOT in line with the goals of this Site.

BT

Kev, Best of luck with the sales. I've been watching the bids slowly increase on both cars. I think you'll get the price you're looking for.
