How do you remove the Chrome Front Bumper on a 71?

Ok so Im working on changing out my grill.  I have everything unbolted, but it looks like theres no way to remove the grill without removing the bumper.  So Im looking under to see how the bumper is attached and I see these Chrome screw looking fasteners.



What the hell kind of fastener head is this?  It kind of looks like a big phillips but its not.

 
You may be better off removing it at the frame rails where the braces attach.  I think that is how it was done at the factory.

Got it off by removing the 4 bracket bolts. Those screws were so rusted on they aren't coming off.

 
On the bracket side they are held in by big J nuts that go on the bracket. For ease of future removal I would grind them out and replace them with new ones. If you have to adjust the bumper after you get the new grille in, you will be happy you did!! Good luck!!
