Ideas for a gauge cluster for 2 or 3 gauges

I was hoping I could see what others have done for a gauge cluster, I'm not wanting to cut anything so curious how others have mounted clusters and which ones they used. It's for my 71 Mach 1.

i like the way that looks. Mine has the 3 gauges, i thought about just leaving them in there as original and just putting after market gauges, wish they made a gauge bracket that goes up the corner of the window like they do for the fox bodies. I could just take the originals out and replace them with newer ones. I keep all my original parts anyways in case one day i want to sell it. well thanks you definitely given me an idea.
 
I have used the Fox body A pillar gauge pods on various 71-2-3 Sportsroofs with excellent results. Only very slight and simple tweaking with a heat gun is needed for near perfect fit onto the existing a factory pillar.
To preserve the factory plastic A pillar trim I use Black silicone seal to adhere the pod to the factory pillar trim. Thus no screws needed that would otherwise damage rare factory trim parts. All wiring can be run out the very bottom of the pod and snaked thru between the A pillar and dash pad, thus negating the need for any drilling and keeping the wiring pretty much invisible.
For me, the three pod version "intruded" a bit too much upon my entry/exit; in addition, the top gauge on the 3 pod was uncomfortably "right in your face". All subjective stuff of course.
One and two gauge pods presented no such issues in my opinion.

I've been looking at fabbing up a bracket to hold a couple 2" gauges and mount using the clock hole+studs in the console around the shifter.
 
well why not go with a factory center setup? I am running the factory oil gauge with a Bosch volt and a manual temperature.
Thanks what size gauges are they that will be able to fit in the factory spots? Where did you end up buying yours?

Great Idea. Thank you for taking the time to write all this out. Im going to try it as well as use the 3 for the original spot.

I made my own cluster which required fabrication and wiring

Thanks what size gauges are they that will be able to fit in the factory spots? Where did you end up buying yours?
got both from Amazon but not sure if they are still out there. There are lots of gauges that fit but I wanted the ones that pointed down to match the factory oil gauge. This is the Bosch temp gauge I used, the volt is also a Bosch but I guess you would have to search for them. I used model lettering to put in VOLT and TEMP on them as in the factory mount those words are hidden. Lots of members have used other gauges, search the site.
