Leaf spring pad missing or ?

Hello

I noticed that I have no pads its steel against steel. Im changingto new Currie clamps etc, should I put the missing pad in or leave it as it is ? Will the pad lower the car ?

The only insulator pads on the 71-73 Mustang rear suspension would be between the tips of the individual leaves. No insulator pad assembly between the axle and spring, that was Cougar and the intermediates.
