This morning, I took the first step in my restoration project on the 73 vert. First thing on the list, was to make a full assesment of the extent of work that would be involved. This included the floor pans, firewall under the dash, the cowl area and the frame rails. The first on the list was to remove my seats and carpet to better assess the floor pans . As you can see below, they need to be replaced. I already have new, both rear pans and have ordered the fronts

I was lucky, the rocker panels are in good shape. The passengers side inner rocker has a little rust deterioration, but should be ok... I think

Next was the COWL area, that was a different story. the passengers side top hat is totally rusted out as well as some of the surrounding sheetmetal. I was luckly with the drivers side which was in acceptable condition.. My plans are to repair the surounding area and seal off the cowl area with sheetmetal as I plan on installing an aftermarket A/C system next year.

The assesment of the frame rails were the scarest.. The rear ones were replaced by the previous owner however, the front reails will need to be replaced.
