My car currently has the wrong clock installed, think its a Mustang II clock. If anyone has a spare original let me know what you're willing to let it go for.

sweet.. Thinking positive thoughts that you have one :p

I haven't seen anything saying otherwise.. all clocks were the same part 71-73, correct?

Found it. Soap and water will go a long way. Over all it looks ok.

Mike.
You can buy a new lens or use an acrylic polish.

You have the harness and mounting grommets.

That is good, those parts are hard to find.

Does the clock work? Finding one in working

condition is rare. Usually the points or coils

used to rewind the mainspring get fried.

Do they ever work?:D The 72 Sprint I got it from had no motor or trans when I got it so I have no clue if it worked. It's been in a box for 15 years and I didn't even try to clean it before taking pics.

Has anyone tried to rebuild the clocks so that it would work?
Yes, the clock in my car keeps excellent time and they are self

adjusting. I needed to file the points but the coils were in decent

shape. If you take off the back and find the points, pull back on

the mainspring to wind it. If the clock ticks down you are half way

there. A friend built a device that uses a capacitor bank to charge

the coils so there is no load on the points, they only act as a switch

to charge the coils which turn into a magnet and fire a hammer that

rewinds the mainspring. Works the same originally using battery

power to charge the coils when the points contact after the

mainspring winds down. The points eventually wear down and

stick together thus smoking the coils because they are getting full battery current. The tic, tic, tic is pretty cool with the jerky second

hand.

Ken (Whitesoc) and I met up in Niagra FAlls a couple of years ago. Brought his mustang over and we had a ball talking cars and having a cold one.
