Mach 1 Package Tray

I bought a new package tray for my 72 Mach 1. I need to change the color to black. It's sort of a board like material. Do I need to prime and paint it or just use the plastic paint interior dye on it?

I sprayed mine with Vinyl Dye paint.

Those are a real rip off, aren't they? I could have bought a sheet and cut it...and not paid shipping.

I'm not going to say it's a rip off. We get so much tied up in these restoration that money doesn't seem to matter towards the end. At the beginning when you're keeping tabs, yes but, after you throw a way the book, just this much more. I was thinking trying the vinyl paint. Did you prime it before you sprayed it or just paint?
