Mustang Body 1/4 hardware

A quick thread on some possible cost savings with 1/4 x 7/8 Hex Body bolts and hardware extruded U nuts. I found a box of 50 - ¼-20 x 17/32 hole center to edge for $15.50 that included ship costs. I got them on E-Bay $9.95. The Ford part# number is 45263-S101 and each headlight bucket assembly requires 8 U clips for a total of 16 U clips. The front valence requires 9 U-Clips.

The Auveco Part is 8359.

The expense of some of these hardware kits is what drove me to research and look into a cheaper alternative to save money.

I found them locally for the same price , the fenders uses them as well.

When my son and I were assembling the 1972 coupe, I stopped at the local Fastenal store and got similar box of U-nuts and bolts. I just took in my old ones and matched them up. I think the extra cost when you buy the fastener kits from the restoration vendors is the neat packaging and labeling. If I intend to meticulously restore my car, then the extra cost would be OK as the neat label and organization is priceless. But just assembling a driver and just needing fasteners that fit correctly, I try to find the cheap stuff or find boneyard vehicles that I can strip off fasteners.
