I recently rebuilt my front end and used one of the inside compressors with the arms. Not sure why someone else said they were too long? My only other alternative was to buy the Ebay one but I got the idea that I could use the internal one in almost the same way.

I took the top arm off the tool, inserted the screw on arm inside the spring, and put the screw/bolt through the top arm then through the top shock mount. This makes the tool leverage the shock mount the same way this other tool does. Screwed it onto the arm on the spring and used 3 washers th uand it turned by hand great. I was able to remove both lower and upper arms and uncompress/recompress the spring. Didn't have any problem doing it that way at all.
