My incoming 1972 ...Data tag

It is started out as a 1972 Mustang convertible built at Dearborn Michigan plant with a 351-2V Cleveland motor, FMX 3 speed automatic transmission which makes it one of 1,984 so equipped.

Built March 1972

It also has deluxe interior (all 72 convertibles did).

2J Maroon exterior color

CA Black Knitted Vinyl aka 'comfortweave' (only choice interior with Maroon exterior for '72)

rear axle ratio 2.75 open

If i remember correctly, to see if the motor is matching#'s the serial#'s would be on the drivers side block below the head? where would I find the trans and rear serial#'s?

The rearend would have a metal tag with part of the VIN, and the transmission part of the VIN is on top (you'll have to pull the trans out to see it)

Correct...

Also, I have not seen a partial VIN on tag of rear end before. It does have a date code and the rear axle ratio.
