My Car
1968 Mustang Convertible, C-Code Engine, 3-Speed, Lime Gold w/ Tan Top & Interior 41,000 Orig. Miles
My names Wade live in Fl. Just bought my first Mustang a few months ago (ex girlfriends dad for 5k) and have been working on her quite a bit over that time. Glad to be a part of the forum and can’t wait to get deeper into the rebuild!

My Mustang (Sally be her name) is a 1968 Lime Gold Convertible w/ 40k original miles and only had two owners. She was built at the Dearborn Michigan factory and where the guy I bought it from bought it from the original owner and brought it down to Fl 10 or so years ago.

The Engine is a 289 V8 C Code, I have a 2v carb not sure of the brand by the markings and no tag that came with it, a new distributor w/ a pertronix 1 I installed (kept the original motorcraft as backup), has the original autolite starter I have replaced all the cables w/ new 4 ga. cable & to the new battery I installed. I have installed a new oil pump and new felpro oil pan gaskets. I installed the new top w/ the glass rear curtain window (horrible yet satisfying experience to say the least) and installed new carpet and reupholstered the seats.

I have installed a new exterior trim pieces (mustang emblems, lettering) master brake cylinder, ignition coil, rebuilt the carburetor (twice) and had to install some sheet metal in the floor boards as the front cowl vents are rusted through so naturally floor boards were rusted too. I know this wasn’t what I should have done and went and got some new floor pans and done it right but that will be done down the road right before I send her off for new paint along with whatever else body work I need to do.

I do have a timing light, vacuum gauges, the 900 something page bible I printed out (ford shop manual), couple of illustration diagram books, wiring diagrams, etc. I am pretty handy with my tools or at least I refuse to take my car to a mechanic so I eventually have figured out how to do quite a few things the hard way most times.

Working on my timing now but will post that in another thread and not the introduction.

Wade-

Welcome from North Idaho. Beautiful Mustang you've got!

I sure wouldn't want to chase you off, but since this site is mostly dedicated to '71-'73 Mustangs you might find more information/help on your 1968 vert over on the VMF site:

https://www.vintage-mustang.com/
A number of members here have Mustangs from other model years as well (I'm actually looking for a '68 fastback) but generally post up about them on the section of the forum dedicated to such:

Again, welcome!

Welcome, Wade, and howdy from Texas! Beautiful car and looks like you've made good progress. I agree with @Idaho Chris and his recommendation to check out the VMF site. Most of us on this site appreciate all the early Mustangs, regardless of year.
