Halon is ozone depleting and remains in the atmosphere for an estimated 400 years. It has been eliminated from use in most countries except for aviation and other critical uses. It can still be used in the U.S., but is not readily available.

Halon has been reformulated and is now sold as Halotron which is readily available.

Interesting about Amazon, they are Very Careful about what they sell.  Bought a solar telescope for the last

eclipse that came through here.  Then got an email from Amazon telling me not to use it with a full refund,

~700 clams, and they did not want the scope back.  Apparently Amazon queried the vendor about how safe it

was to use and did not get a reply.  So they dropped the plan and all responsibility for its use.  The scope is

called a Coranado PST and made by Meade, a very reliable manufacturer of premium telescopes.  The vendor

did not answer their query.  That is all.
