My Car
1971 Mach 1 429 Cobra Jet 4 speed Top Loader. Matching numbers, 47,000 original miles. Dark Metallic Green with Gray Two Tone.
Just joined up. I recently purchased a one owner 1971 Mach 1 J Code equipped with the numbers matching drive line including the 429 Cobra Jet and 4 speed Top Loader transmission. The owner had the original bill of sale and all kinds of documentation. The interior is in time capsule condition, really unbelieveable. The exterior is the original dark green metallic paint job with the gray two tone. It currently has 47,234 original miles on it. It has not been registered since 1991 and has been sitting on jack stands since 1993. The only thing missing from the car is the original wheels (he put on 15" Ansen slots) and the ram air set up. According to the owner, in the mid to late 70's he decided he wanted to remove the carbuertor and replace it with a bigger edelbrock. Once he changed the carb he had clearance issues with the ram air set up. So, he bought an aftermarket air cleaner and eventually lost the ram air set up over the years. The original plenum is still under the hood, but the air cleaner, snorkle , and seal needs to be replaced. I will be in search of this set up soon. I know these are hard to come by so if anyone has any suggestions for the new guy they will be much appreciated!

Welcome from Indiana, you've landed in the right place. Your car sounds awesome, any pic's?
Incoming.... These pictures were when I first looked at the car. The two tone is supposed to be gray but the owner painted it gold. His explanation was "You have to remember, I was in my 20's and this was my first car. A buddy of mine bought the same car as me and I had to make mine different." If you look closely you can see the gray coming through on the bottom of the passenger side door.

Welcome from Oklahoma.

Best of luck on your parts hunt.

We have a few others here with factory 429 powered cars. Nice to see another one.
