My Car
1972 Mach1 Cobra Jet 351
saved from becoming
"Eleanor look-a-like"
To be restored back to original
Hello,

My name is Martin Feltham and I live in England. I have just bought a 1972 Mach 1 Cobra Jet 4V 351 Ram Air for restoration. It has been off the road for nearly 3 years and the engine was removed and dismantled prior to rebuilding. Unfortunately it remained in boxes, and the car was put into storage. I had been chasing this car for 6 months and finally the owner agreed to sell, so when it arrived it was the culmination of 25 years waiting, to actually own a 1972 Mustang.

I have some history, it was imported to Britian in 1980, but I know nothing of its life in the US, other than it was registered in New York.

One question, the door tag shows "Trim AB" this was a 1973 code, is there a reason it is on my '72? If anyone could help I would be most grateful.

Anyway, hope to hear from you all soon.

Trim AB should be standard interior, blue

Welcome to the forums! Glad to have you aboard!

::welcome::

Hi Martin and ::welcome:: from a fellow European (Luxembourg).

The best advice I can give is to get a Marti report from http://www.martiauto.com/

If you don´t have one already, that is.

That tells you exactly what specs the car had when it left the factory, explains the options and gives some more interesting info, like date of built etc.

WELCOME aboard, Martin!

As Don (Ohio Mustang Supply) stated and/or inferred, the AB trim WAS available on the 1972 Mustangs to include Mustangs built with the exterior paint codes of 3B (Light Blue), 3F (Grabber Blue), 3J (Bright Blue Metallic), 5A (Light Pewter Metallic) and 9A (White).

I look forward to interacting with you on the Site as you continue your journey with your 1972 Mach 1.

Again, Welcome!

BT
