So these guys were told to stand at ground zero while a 2 kiloton

weapon was set off 10,00 feet over their heads.

This article appeared on Foxnews.com.

You first see their reaction to the flash then followed by the

shock wave.

The article mentioned all six developed some form of cancer and four died as a result.

I assume number six was the photographer.

This was a demonstration to show nuclear weapons were safe to use near a civilian

population. ???

WOW!!!! I work where the "Bomb" was designed and built and that is just "CRAZY" But we have picture of some crazier stuff that wnt on during the early days
What amazes me is we had the technology back then, check the jets,

to put a nuclear weapon in something the size of an air to air

missile. What do we have now??

mike

I like how the government blames us for holes in the ozone layer with all our aerosols and emissions...what effect do you think all these aerial nuke blasts have on the ozone? I once saw a map that showed where the biggest ozone holes were and they corresponded with nuclear testy sites all over the globe! Hmmmm...imagine that!

You would be AMAZED

Born and raised in Oak Ridge, my generation grew up almost expecting to get nuked, but volunteering to stand under one does seem pretty nuts. Those guys had balls.
Now they have extras.
