On Monday I will finally move my Mustang to our new house and the first time it has been home in many many years. To say that I'm excited, would be an understatement.

The scramble started today to get the garage ready. It looks like the day we moved in back in August. Full of crap and boxes. Hell the house is still full of boxes. To be honest I'm convinced the damn things screw at night and multiply, but I digress.

We found rat droppings and crap chewed up everywhere. From what I can tell though, my new interior stuff has been spared. We cleaned, straightened, put some stuff in the attic and after several hours we were almost done until I moved a small filing cabinet and out jumped a rat twice the size as my fist.

After about 30 minutes of chasing the darn thing around and several little girl screams ( I swear it was from the wife) it met its maker at the end of my bat.

This got me to wondering. How do I keep the little buggers out of my car. I'm pretty sure there everywhere as our neighborhood was in and is surrounded by open fields.

Thoughts?

Put a few moth balls in a athletic sock. put one under the hood, one in the interior, and one in the trunk. The little bastards don't like it.

Mothballs will certainly work but the drawback is the odor that it leaves behind. The other alternative is to get some peppermint oil and soak some cotton balls with it. Wrap the cotton balls with some tin foil and poke some holes in it using a pin. Place these throughout the car on jar lids and it should do the job. Don't want to stain anything so using the lids prevents that plus you also get a good scent.
