Opinions on reupholstering fox body seat

Well, you've got an SVO - so you should know.   ::thumb::

I was thinking the SVO seats also had the detached/adjustable quad bolster (front most part of the lower cushion) which this one seems to have.  I also believe we've discussed these particular seats before and they turned out to be SVO seats.  Can't see the lumbar pump maybe because of the trash bag.

Yes these do have the lumbar pump.

Eric, those are the Lear Siegler manufactured 84-86 SVO Mustang seats like we had discussed earlier. They have the more pronounced side bolster in the back and seat cushion than the GT seats. Those also have the SVO unique perorated seat material than was on both the cloth and leather seats. The 87-88 Turbo T-Bird seats are similar but had European style head rests and power lumbar's. The SVO's had the lower profile head rests and a bulb actuated lumbar. My 85 GT has what Ford calls Articulated Sport seats with manually adjusted seat side bolsters and thigh supports which looked very similar to the SVO seat. It also has halo Head Rests which were used from 83-86 on GT models. Since the halo's were sourced from the Escort GT some of the earlier production Mustangs had the mesh insert in the headrests.  Power lumbar adjustment came in 1987. Those same seats were offered through the Ford Motorsport catalog for a while but were expensive and weren't great sellers. Those had "Ford Motorsport" embossed in the seat back and had halo headrests.

Thankfully the flex in the seatback like you described in your 82 was gone by the time the better seats started appearing in the mid 80's Fox Mustangs. I had an 80 hatchback with the standard high back bucket seats (was too tight to spring for the optional Recaro's) and you could move from side to side and feel the seat back frame twist!

So anyone that happens to run up on a set of these SVO seats at a decent price....Snag 'em. Your "Rear End" will thank you!

I have owned three SVOs.  An 84, 85 and 86.  Never found a 85.5.  I have performed frame reconstruction work due to my drivers seat having, '"the lean".  I performed the exact same procedure to my 85 GTs drivers seat and I can say the bottom frame of the seat is near identical from what I remember.  The bolster foam is lager on the SVO seats and have the knob to crank to make them tighter or looser as well as the manual lumbar bulb to inflate the seat back, but none of the ones I owned held air pressure for more than a few minutes.  Like mentioned already, the SVO seats were made by Lear-Siegler and not Recaro.  

I pulled these Recaro seats out of an Opal Manta when I was stationed in England, and had them recovered in ginger vinyl.  I paid 400 pounds to have them done like this.  About $600, and that was about 18 years ago.
