My Car
1973 Mach 1 with 351C.
I have a set of Patriot Headers H8412-B that I purchased a couple of years ago that I am just now getting around to installing. The passenger side seems to point inward more than the other side. Has anyone experienced this with this brand? I was expecting them to be point straight back. If anyone has these installed on their car that could share a pic or two, that would be appreciated.

Thanks all.

I cannot provide any useful info on that set of headers, but a long time ago, this was discussed, as part of a good overall engine build on this forum. For what it’s worth:

At least you might ask the originator on the recommendation if he has experience, if he’s still around.

AOCUSNRET,
I have Patriot H8414-B on my 71fb-Cleveland 4V with PS and they fit well with Toploader/ Tremec TKX with stock bellhousing and C4.
no ps bracket needed.
The only odd thing is the rh header does point 15 degrees inward.
I did have to purchase a 15 degree mandrel bend pipe to make my X pipe work well.
They don't hang too low and I am very pleased with them.
Been on my car for about 5 years now and no rust.

@boilermaster

I am about to pull the trigger on these Patriot headers for my car. I am seeing PN H8413-B for 351C-4V though:

Did you do any paint or coating on yours prior to install? Also were you able to install them "normally" from the bottom up without jacking the engine or anything? I don't have PS, but do have the Zbar setup for the 4 speed. Plenty of room to have the 15 degree pipe prior to x pipe under there I assume?

Any pics?

4thesporty,
No special paint or coatings, my car never sees salt or rain, paint is holding up very well after 5 years.
I honestly cannot remember if these headers went in thru the top or bottom but they were easy install.
My gaskets leaked almost immediately and always had issues with some of the bolts working loose.
I went with premium gaskets and the e clip style locking bolts and problem solved.

No experience with the Patriots, but curious to see how they fit. They're bare steel, so you'll want to at least spray them with a high heat header paint.

I've used the 6915HKR headers on my 4V/4speed 71-73s for going on 30 years. No issues with clearance or fitment. Both of mine I installed from the bottom, didn't even have to disconnect the Z-bar. The latest set I installed a couple years ago were the best fitting set I've ever seen. Even though they're now made in China, it appears they have all new tooling and equipment, as the bends, welds and laser cutting were top notch. The gaskets they include are garbage, I used FelPro 1416 and have had no leaks.
