The 05 in the VIN confirms that it is a true Mach 1, but with few options ordered for it. I have a good friend in Brandon, FL with a 1972 Mach 1 R Code (351 HO) with only 3 options--very plain-jane indeed, but still very desirable, a true Mach 1.

Here's the exact description from the original invoice for my '72 Mach 1:

Mustang Mach 1 2 Dr Sportroof

8 cylinder $3,561.00

Includes at no extra cost:

Color keyed spoiler/bumper

Unique grille w/sportlamps

Competition suspension

Trim rings/hub caps

Wide oval belted WSW tires

High back bucket seats

Color keyed racing mirrors

Deluxe 2 spoke strg wheel

Uni-lock restraint system

That's all there was to a bare-bones Mach 1 in '72
