Had a tough 69-73 Mach 1 class this year. Usually, it's just me, Jim and Jutta, and a '70. This year there was two 69's, both 428 cars, a '70 351C 4 speed, and a second '70. I placed 3rd. Jim and I both noticed our cars seemed to get just as much attention as the earlier Mach1s. It's was a good day.

Congratulations on placing third! It was good to hear that people are giving some attention to our cars. I think there are a few reasons behind this. First off, you just don't see them much out on the street. The early mustangs are still frequently seen, after all ford made over 2 million through 1970. Second, our model was the first departure from the first generation. It's something different to look at. It also doesn't hurt that they look a lot like the 69 and 70 Shelby. Finally I think the retro fifth generation mustangs look so much like the early years that people are getting used to the look.

Yep, it was a great show and the weather was perfect. Like Pat said our so called "big" ponies got as much attention as the five earlier Mach 1s next to ours, they were really nice looking cars with three of them having a lot of money spent on full restorations. The fact that Pat's 72 placed 3rd with that type of competition speaks highly of the work he's done on his car. I noticed the younger (under 35) crowd, gravitated to our big ponies more so than the older crowd. Apparently no one has told them they're not suppose to like the 71-73's and probably the reason Pat pulled a trophy.
