Power steering pump going bad...

I noticed a noise at idle that went away with increased RPMs. Sounds like it is coming from teh power steering pump.

Does anyone have a line on good replacements?

Orielly's had one in stock for mine... They don't seem to have parts for older cars in stock in the midwest stores however... Rockauto for sure would have one.

Typicaly if it goes away on higher rpms its just a loose belt.

The belt appears tight... my mechanic buddy said it sounded like the pump was going bad.

Unless you really get on it and then it screeches again. Sometimes hard to tell if it is the tires or the belt

It's not a screeching sound like the belt slipping. It's more of a whirring, almost like a bearing going bad.

I was worried it was a bearing in the fan, but hopefully it's just the PS pump... much simpler fix.

Of Course Ya have already checked fluid level. Some times it is the little things.

Yup... fluid level is fine
