Proper headlight adjustment

Long story short on the return trip from the Woodward dream cruise I found out that my head light adjustment sucked. This being said I have watched videos and read articles on how do adjust and know where all of the adjustments screws are located. My question is does anyone know the correct starting height (in inches) of the lights for the initial starting point before backing up the 25 ft?

If you don't have access to a headlight adjustment kit (some old school mechanics may have it laying in storage) use your daily driver parked level 25' or so in front of garage door / wall. Use masking tape to mark center points of the low beam and high beam illumination pattern. Mark front tire position with tape on pavement.

Pull your car up to match the tape on the pavement and match the marks on the door/wall. Check illumination on the roadway (find a quiet street nearby). If you think you're a bit high or low, make adjustment. That should get you pretty close.

Try to use sedan model, not a pickup or big SUV to do the initial marking. Because of the diffuser pattern built into the headlight lens, starting with it up close to a wall is going to be near useless to set height and side position.

Thanks the problem is the two daily drivers are a 4 wheel drive pick up and a new corvette(wifes) so one is low and one is high.
