Alright, first post!

I've got a '71 Fastback, looking to make an open road runner, Grand Touring type of stuff. I've been looking through all the posts of rear suspensions, and looks like most everybody are settling with upgraded leaf springs, and maybe some subframe connectors. I'm wanting something a little more aggressive. I've looked at the Heidt's IRS, but I haven't seen any reviews, and thats a lot of money for something nobody's talking about. Does anyone know about any companies building Watts 3-links? Any help appreciated, thanks!

Welcome to the site! My suspension is all stock but hopefully someone here can help with your question. Try to post up an introduction thread with some pics.

Welcome to the site.

I am not familiar with any rear suspension kit specific to our cars but hear the modifications to existing kits are not too difficult.

It depends on your skill level and what you're comfortable with. There are a couple of good DIY 3 and 4 link threads on Protouring.com if you can do the engineering and fabrication.

Most of the rear 4 link etc setups made for 1970's stangs will fit our cars with a little bit of tweaking..The question is how good are your fabrication skills & how deep is your wallet ? I searched high & low & researched exactly what you want to do. I came to the conclusion that I really wouldn't gain much in handling using a 4 link setup vs a properly set up leaf spring /sway bar rear... outside of the WOW factor...Now the frt end is different story & I ended up with this in the frt. http://www.7173mustangs.com/thread-video-install-of-sot-coilover-conver I ended up with tcp rear 4.5 1" drop leafs in the rear. Your best gain in the handling dept will be in the frt end..wheels & tires..& of course brakes. Here's some links to rear end stuff that will work if you insist. They all REQUIRE modification to work

I haven't used them on the 73, however, my 65 2+2 does have Flex Form(FaF) fiberglass rear springs. Single best suspension mod I have done to the car. Not only does the car handle much better, the ride is fantastic.
