Repacement voltage regulator

Sorry, but I was unable to search and find a post from a few months back on voltage regulators. Although the one I have is a fairly new replacement, I think it is on the way out. I had a bit of trouble with voltage going above 14V when hot back in August. I have already had one fail and boil a brand new battery...…. and an engine compartment repaint!

In the post I'm referring to, there was a link to a website for a solid state regulator for the 71-73 Mustang, however if I recall, it was black and would need the cover changing or painting.

If someone could be good enough to assist finding this, I'd appreciate it as well as suggestions.

Just as an update on this, I found the correct '71 solid state with the correct blue color and logo at Virginia Classic Mustangs (VCM)

Only about 45 bucks plus shipping. Great service.

Now I just need it to warm up so I can work in the unheated garage and get it in.

That's good to know where the part is available. I have wondered about the solid state units and if they are a good upgrade option and are reliable. Will be interesting to hear about your experience with it.

I'll be sure to update later. Solid state has to be better than the old system. I'm sure the electronics guys would agree.

The one I'm replacing is only about 4 years old and not working properly. It's old school as well I think.

I got mine from Advanced auto for around $25. I also got one for the yellow car too.I just scuffed the cover, painted, and installed sticker.  Looks pretty good. Has new electronics and lifetime warranty.
