Worked on the drivers side rear quarter….the body line was wobbly and not straight, plus I did rust repair at the bottom. So I had to redo the surface shaping….got it straight…..
Also got the passenger rear quarter reworked, and started on the quarter patch…the door really needs to come off and get finished and hinge rebuilt first….
Been working on compressor, it was not plumbed well and started spitting water…I added more piping and 4 drops with drains…also building lights for the paint booth we will build in the fall…testing them out for coverage, I have 18 lights total.
Finally got primer on the rear body work, it looks good, 2 coats on, will have some small repairs and it should be close, I am moving forward to the doors…
I wetsanded down the rear primer, it looks pretty good and needs minimal respray.
tonight, in just a few hours, I removed front bumper, grill, valance, front fenders and doors. The doors and hinges are next on the rebuild list, followed by refit of fenders. With hood.
I have a curious problem, one side of the car is 1/2 inch shorter than the other, so I need to cheat the spaces and gaps to work that out….
Did primer today on doors, hinges and misc parts…beat the rain and the lawn guy that showers my house with debris ever Saturday. Will wet sand and evaluate, and rebuild the door hinges….
been getting a lot done, all work on hinges and door openings so I can get doors back on…did some minor filler and sanded everything down, primed and wetsanded. Passenger quarter gets finished once door is refit.
Tested spraying color this evening on door hinges, bolts and the inside of the fron valance. So far so good, these parts won’t be seen much so a good place to test. The valance will be grabber blue, so the Wimbledon white will be like a base under it.
Today was big….sprayed Wimbledon White on the door openings and the inside of doors. The car will be two tone with grabber blue on bottom. Goal tomorrow is to spray grabber blue in door openings and backs of doors where required so I can mount the doors and continue body alignment….
